Wagram
Winemakers as
transformation leaders
Farming here was never just about vines — fields, forests, and animals all belonged to the rhythm of mixed farms. Yet it has always been wine that carried the greatest force, shaping the region’s cultural advance. The adoption of the name ‘Wagram’ in 2007 strengthened our region and our identity: it became our brand, our place, our story. Today Wagram stands for more than terroir-driven wine — for mindful enjoyment, fine local dining, and the art of slow travel.
This place was beachfront property!
If you’d visited 17 million years ago, you might have packed a swimsuit — back then, the Wagram lay right on the coast of a warm primordial sea.
During the ice ages, we’d have welcomed you into our igloo to escape the freezing winds that piled up the loess along the ancient shoreline.
Today, the climate is far more inviting — ideal for exploring the landscape and enjoying a glass (or two) of our wines.
Wagram in 2040
By 2040, the Wagram stands for craftsmanship, cooperation, and care. Vineyards and wineries may be fewer, but the best sites flourish — nurtured by families and open-minded newcomers who share a deep respect for the land and its traditions.
Wine remains, as it always has, the heartbeat of the landscape — proof that ecology and economy can grow in harmony. Around it, new life has taken root: yoga retreats, small restaurants, bed & breakfasts, markets, market gardens, food co-ops, and Green Care initiatives bring people together and keep villages vibrant.
And in 2040, the taste of Roter Veltliner still tells the story of a region that chose depth over growth.
